Volunteers needed for Primary Day

We are working to get our poll workers finalized for this Tuesday, August 3rd. Anyone wanting to help us by handing out literature at a polling location on Tuesday should call the office through the weekend or stop in that day. The shifts we have set up are from 7-11:30AM, 11AM-4PM, and 3:30-7:30PM, and we will be providing box lunches to volunteers working the first two shifts. Thank you for your help!

In these difficult economic times, we need leaders who do more than “talk the talk”. For Macomb County, the time to lead is now. No more empty words and promises. Mark Hackel is the type of leader who listens and learns, and then leads in a clear and decisive manner. Macomb County needs an Executive that is accountable and responsible. As Macomb County Sheriff since 2001, Mark Hackel has listened to and learned from Macomb County constituents. He has been a leader who has stood tall for Macomb County. Mark Hackel has the ability to get Macomb County citizens and business, education, labor and government officials to embrace and enact a unified vision for progress. Mark Hackel is the leader to move us to the NEXT Macomb.

As our first County Executive, Mark Hackel will bring “AAA” government to Macomb by being accountable and accessible to citizens and an advocate for the County. Mark Hackel will provide clear direction for County department heads and employees. He will ensure that Macomb County is a full partner with Detroit, Wayne County and Oakland County on regional issues. He will be an effective representative who will market and promote Macomb County as the preferred place to locate a business. Mark Hackel believes the greatest opportunity for job growth in Macomb County will occur by helping existing Macomb County businesses expand and prosper. As a person who demands integrity, Mark Hackel will insist on a transparent Macomb County government; one that operates in the open, not in the shadows.

The NEXT Macomb

Last year, Macomb County voters took the first important step in reforming county government by adopting the Macomb County Charter. In 2010, voters take the next step forward when they elect Macomb’s first County Executive. The County Executive has all the duties of a CEO – supervising departments, enforcing all laws and ordinances, and overseeing roads, emergency preparedness and economic development. The Executive will preserve natural resources, coordinate all planning for the County, and oversee the County’s multi-million dollar budget. The NEXT Macomb will replace inefficiency with proficiency and ineffectiveness with performance. A strong executive will give Macomb County a voice on regional and state issues. Mark Hackel is the person to lead Macomb County as our first Executive.
